Blue Eye Makeup: Grown Ass Woman Edition

Happy Friday everyone! πŸ˜šπŸ’‹

So it basically goes without saying that every makeup geek started their beauty journey in middle school with some horrendously shocking blue eyeshadow that was smeared on. Right? (At least that’s how it started for me)

Luckily I’ve come so far from those days, and now have too much makeup for my own good πŸ˜‰

For years after middle school, I did my best to avoid blue eye shadows mostly because I already have blue eyes. I thought it was a huge faux pas for us blue eyed girls.

One day about a year ago I played around with some blues and it looked amazing! It IS possible to pull of blue eye makeup as a grown ass woman and not look like I’m 11 again.

Today I played with my favorite eye palette at the moment (Smashbox Master Class eyeshadow / blush set) and went for an ethereal blue eye look.

I swept Sky all over the lids and added Spruce to the outer corners. I then highlighted under my brows with Snow. Finally I used Sephora Long lasting kohl pencil in Mysterious blue to bring out some more blue.

For all you blue eyed ladies out there, keeping the crazy bright blues off your eyes will help you pull off blue eye makeup as a grown ass woman. You don’t want to distract from your gorgeous eye color with an insane blue!

Trying a dark blue while incorporating some dark greys can also work for a night eye look. I’ve always wanted to try it, so maybe soon I will!

But for now here is my MOTD:

Thanks for reading, my loves πŸ™‚ til next time

  1. Great look! My journey started with Pink. I still cringe at hot pink shadows.
