Say No to Makeup Wipes

I’m sure a lot of you use makeup wipes to take off your makeup. Well I’m here to tell you to stop!

For one thing, don’t ever use only makeup wipes. You need a least a face wash to get rid of any extra dirt and makeup.

Makeup wipes literally do nothing! They barely get your makeup off and definitely get dirt or oil out of your skin. You’re really just smearing around bacteria and dirt when you use makeup wipes. Um EW!

These wipes are also way too harsh on your skin because of how hard you have to rub your skin just to try to get any makeup off. And all that rubbing will eventually bring wrinkles and fine lines.

Instead, look into getting micellar cleansing water or a cleansing balm. You just apply a little to your face and wash it off with a washcloth. Even after this step, my face already feels cleaner than it ever would just using a disgusting makeup wipe.

Here are some products to check out if you’re still using makeup wipes:

  • Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water
  • Sephora Collection Micellar Cleansing Water (various scents)
  • First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Coconut Micellar Makeup Melter
  • Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm
  • IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup 3-in-1 Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm
  • Yes To Tomatoes Detoxifying Charcoal Micellar Cleansing Water

Thanks for reading, my loves 🙂 til next time

The Simple brand Micellar wipes are actually really good. They remove a lit without much effort. Not all wipes are created equally.

  3. I only tend to use them for travel or when I’m really tired, they’re mainly for getting swatches off for me now. I love the Soap and Glory micellar water but I have been looking at some of the micellar water wipes as they have the micellar water in them.

    1. Ya I’ve heard micellar water wipes work well. But honestly, I feel the cleanest when I use micellar water followed by my face wash. Thanks for your input!

  4. I use makeup wipes, but I also try to use something else besides the wipe just to get anything extra off my face. I did find though that the wipes I’ve been using seem to be more oil based so it’s not as harsh on my eyes and face. Great post and probably really good advice!! ♥

I use makeup wipes ALOT but I never rely just on that and I never try to wipe really hard. I use them for the first step of removing makeup and then I follow up with a cotton round and micellar water and then a cleanser.

  6. I do not use makeup wipes either. I actually use baby wash to clean off all my makeup and then follow up with my regular cleanser!

It actually makes me feel ill that some people swear by just using wipes. Like how can anyone thinks that cleans ya face? Mental 😂 anyhow, glad you’ve spread the word because it’s shocking how many people don’t know this! I use them to get the brunt off (because I wear a lot) but then I’ll cleanse properly etc etc … anyhow, Very informative love it xx

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one grossed out by makeup wipes! I’ll never understand how people only use those to “wash” their faces
